Trebokstavers akronymer er visst det nye og hete. To bokstaver går også greit, og noen ganger er fire også akseptabelt. Men gud hjelpe meg så irriterende og forvirrende det er med alle disse akronymene midt i eksamenslesingen.

• RUP - Rational Unified Process
• ROP - Rational Objectory Process
• SRS - Software Requirements Specification
• SEP - Software Engineering Process
• USDP - Unified Software Development Process

USDP is a SEP from the authors of UML and is commonly referred to as UP.

• OO - Object Oriented
• MDA - Model Driven Architecture
• OPEN method - Object-oriented Process, Environment, and Notation method
• OMT - Object Modeling Technique

It's worth pointing out that whereas the UML has been standardized by the OMG, the UP has not. There is therefore still no standard SEP to complement UML.

Og det blir vel egentlig bare verre, og jeg er ikke halvveis i boken enda. Ikke mye nåde her i gården. Jeg er litt nysgjerrig på hva de ønsker å oppnå med at jeg leser "yada yada yada CIM yada" og må bla meg tilbake fire kapitler for å finne ut hva en "CIM" er for noe.
